hey,
october was nice. after my last letter about tackling burnout and fatigue again, I decided to take a few days off and head up the coast with Lara. I love road trips and it had been too long since the last one. we’re so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world and it’s easy to bury our heads and forget to look around. it was so great. we had the yummiest food and saw the most beautiful places. I took my camera with me as I realised I hadn't properly taken photos in a long time, and photography was one of my first loves. I wanted to get back to that, capturing feelings and memories through images. here are some from that trip:
there is such a magic that comes when you can step outside of yourself and just truly exist in the world around you, and stop over-analysing everything. easier said than done, but give it a go if you haven’t today.
when I returned home it was time to prep for SXSW sydney, which ended up being such an awesome week. it’s a huge festival/conference showcasing emerging music, film, tech / innovation and video games, and having it in australia for the first time was surreal. the city came alive in a way I haven't seen in a long time. there were over 300 performances by a bunch of amaaaazing artists from around the world, and so many wild talks in the tech / innovation space that I felt lucky to go to. honestly it felt like such a privilege to be able to be there, let alone to be performing. the shows were a lot of fun, thank you if you came out to one. here is another live clip I uploaded this month - not from SXSW, but a taste of the live set:
I met so many cool people there so I’m super grateful for the week! buuuuuuuuuuuuuut what goes up must come down lol. in the days following, I started feeling pretty rough, and tested positive for covid. honestly not surprising given the amount of mingling I was doing hahaha. I took the next week to recover and played a tonne of spider-man 2.
then, for the rest of the month, I have just been going deep on the new project. like I said - I want to finish it by the end of the year, and somehow each month feels shorter than the last, so I’m starting to freak out a little - but I mean it when I say this is the proudest I’ve felt of music I’ve made. next year is looking bright.
so this is where I’ve been, sorry for not being super active online these last couple months. I want to get back into the swing of that. Sony just sent me a really cool camera to borrow for the month so I’m going to try make some content with it. I’m thinking of filming acoustic versions of all my past songs to post on tiktok / instagram so keep an eye out for that.
on a final note - I want to bring light to something outside of myself for a second. I’m sure you’re aware of the horrors occurring in Gaza right now. it might feel like there’s nothing we can do to help from our end of the world, but please consider donating if you have the means to. I’ve chosen to support the PCRF. a little goes a long way. you can find an easy donation link on my instagram profile too.
thank you for being here and reading this far <3

chris
